Once the blizzard is over let
the games begin, the game of parking wars that is. In a city like Boston in
areas like Mattapan and Dorchester residents go to the extreme to make sure
their parking spot is kept. After every blizzard comes long days of shoveling
once you have put all your sweat and energy into making that spot your are
going to make sure no one takes that spot from you. Residents go as far as
placing beach chairs, traffic cones, and broken dressers. Placing these objects
indicates that parking spot is reserved. By removing it can cause a feud around
the block. Is that even legal to do? Preventing someone from parking by putting
an object there to save it. For years that have been the routine in Boston
driving through neighborhoods you will find either cars or chairs aligned up
and down the street. It’s interesting to see the lengths people will go to keep
their spots.
